What we are building
Immigration information is often spread across many official pages and written for different audiences. We organize that information into a simpler starting point. Canada is our current focus; the site is structured so other destinations can be added later without changing how visitors research a pathway.
How we choose sources
We prioritize primary, authoritative sources. Our usual source order is:
- Legislation, regulations, ministerial instructions, and official program delivery material.
- Government of Canada and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada pages.
- Official provincial, territorial, municipal, educational, or professional-regulator pages.
- Reliable secondary sources only when they add context; they do not replace the official rule.
Guides link to official sources so visitors can verify requirements at the point where they matter.
Our publishing process
How the pathway quiz works
The Canada Pathway Quiz compares the answers a visitor selects with broad characteristics of Canadian immigration pathways. It returns a research shortlist and points out conditions worth checking. It does not calculate official eligibility, a Comprehensive Ranking System score, or the likelihood of approval.
The current quiz runs in the visitor’s browser and does not require an account. A result should always be confirmed against the linked official sources and, where appropriate, with an authorized professional.
Updates, corrections, and commercial independence
Immigration rules can change quickly. We use routine and event-driven reviews, clearly describe program closures or pauses, and correct material errors when identified. Our Corrections & Update Policy explains the process.
Future referral relationships may help fund the website, but compensation will not determine program facts, eligibility explanations, or quiz results. Any compensated relationship will be disclosed clearly. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
Limits of our role
BeforeImmigration does not submit applications, represent visitors before an authority, or decide who qualifies. For advice about an individual case, use a lawyer or immigration professional authorized for the relevant jurisdiction, and verify their status with the appropriate regulator.
